Welcome to my GIS Website!
Hi! My name is Eric Hoodicoff.
I graduated from the Bachelor of Geographic Information Systems program from Selkirk College in September, 2017 and I have been working in the GIS field for over 2 years. Those 2 years began in July, 2016 with an internship at the Selkirk Geospatial Research Centre with my main focus on the Rural Open Data Project. I continued with this project for my thesis the next year researching data standardization. The highlights of that project was the opportunity to attend and present at the Spatial Knowledge and Information (SKI) Conference in Banff, AB and the Geothink Smart Cities Conference in Montreal representing Selkirk College and the West Kootenay region.
In August, 2016 I was hired on at Long Line Enterprises in Nelson, BC working with local forestry and logging spatial data. I work closely with the Interfor and Kalesnikoff Lumber GIS and planning departments managing data and mapping for logging, silviculture and logging road management projects mainly using ArGIS and Cengea.
I have lived here in the Kootenays in BC for most of my life but I have spent some time living in the Vancouver area as well as Moscow, Russia.
I am also a semi-professional drummer on the occasional weekend with Canada’s favourite AC/DC tibute band BC/DC.
